This design Italian flag dates from 1848 - 1946. This one was taken at Derna in Libya between 10th - 15th November 1942. It was brought home to Australia by Alex ARCHER, No 40637, 3 Sqaudron RAAF. One subsection of this collection is shoes, designed and manufactured for Australian women by Australian and European designers. Else Oertel was an internee in Camp 3A from 1940-1945. Else (a German) was interned in the same compound as many Italians. Her Italian neighbours, Mr & Mrs Manlio & Henrietta Pecchioni presented this prayer book to her in memory of their internment together.
