House Key and letters...This key was the front door key to the house at 93 Anderson Road Sunshine. ...Metal key and letter from the donor with details about the house...Brimbank Library, 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine 3020. melbourne This key was the front door key to the house at 93 Anderson Road Sunshine. ...This key was the front door key to the house at 93 Anderson Road Sunshine. The donor's letter provides an insight to the history of the house and its occupants. Metal key and letter from the donor with details about the houseNote from the donor. Dear Alan, I'm sorry to say I cannot find my photos of 93 Anderson Rad Sunshine. My husband and I travelled a lot, so they've either disappeared on one of our moves or my brother may have them, he is going to have a look. As to "93", 3-bedroom, lounge room, kitchen / dining room with a woodstove, scullery with a gas stove, laundry, bathroom, and a small back porch. My father eventually built an enclosed back verandah right across the back of the house which had the benefit of bringing the toilet undercover, wonderful. The house was taken by council in the early 70's, to make way for a road through to the old council yards, which was being developed for housing. It was sad because Dad had always kept it in good repair, so there was no need for it to go as there were others in not such a good condition. I loved that house, lots of great memories growing up in Sunshine, but Perth has been our home for many years now. No 93 was bought my grandfather, don't know what date, and my father & mother and baby brother lived there with is sister and husband, their daughter and baby son (Irene & Jack Evans). Uncle Jack was a gardener at Sunshine Gardens. Dad worked first at H.V. McKays and then was a man powered to ICI at Deer Park in the black powder plant during the war. After the war we was transferred into the acid plant. He spent the rest of his working life at ICI. anderson road, sunshine, robert garnet boyd -

... Key......key...Changi Jail Key. Blackened metal key, Wooden tag attached with Japanese print on it. ...Key ...During World War II, following the Fall of Singapore in February 1942, the Japanese military detained about 3,000 civilians in Changi Prison, which was built to house only 600 prisoners. The Japanese used the British Army's Selarang Barracks, near the prison, as a prisoner of war camp, holding some 50,000 Allied—predominantly British and Australian—soldiers.[1] Although POWs were rarely, if ever, held in the civilian prison, the name Changi became synonymous in the UK, Australia, and elsewhere with the POW camp. About 850 POWs died during their internment in Changi during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore,[2] a relatively low rate compared to the overall death rate of 27% for POWs in Japanese camps.[3] However, many more prisoners died after being transferred from Changi to various labour camps outside Singapore, including the Burma Railway and the Sandakan airfield.this item is of historical significance because it is supposedly one of the few surving keys to Changi Jail and donated by Mr.Robertson . Changi is significant as it was a major prison camp during WWII Changi Jail Key. Blackened metal key, Wooden tag attached with Japanese print on it. The item has a battery box located behind the Morse key but the original battery has been replaced by two rectangular 1.5 V batteries which were placed in the shelf below the Morse key. That shelf was initially intended to store the audio telephone hand piece which is no longer with the device. Hence, the final use of the item was as a Morse key only.Stencilled on outside lid (see photo): TELE SET D M (3 or 4 other indecipherable faint letters/numbers; likely "D. MK V." with star) YA. 6371 Inside (on movable frame, for holding hand piece): PRESS KEY WHEN FINISHED Stamped into metal lid of battery box (behind Morse key): PX SERIAL NO. (no actual serial no. stamped on lid) -
