Kinnear Ropes (Kinnears Ropeworks) was one of Victoria’s most important industrial manufacturers, a major rope, twine, fibre and synthetic‑yarn producer whose Footscray factory located in Ballarat Road opposite Droop Street operated for a full century (1902–2002). From the earliest days of Baden‑Powell, rope was one of the Scout’s essential tools. The use of rope was a foundational skill in Scouting because it taught self‑reliance, teamwork, safety, and outdoor competence.This sample Board was donated to the 3rd Sunshine Scout Group by Bill Miller who worked at Geo.
