On March 11, 1965, 10 houses in Eltham were lost in bushfires. It was the second such outbreak in 8 days. The 'Laughing Waters' property was destroyed along with 9 other houses between Laughing Waters and Research. This carving represents the eels and eel trap which was discovered by Cam in the Yarra below Killeavey and has been established to be ore European settlement.
