On March 11, 1965, 10 houses in Eltham were lost in bushfires. It was the second such outbreak in 8 days. The 'Laughing Waters' property was destroyed along with 9 other houses between Laughing Waters and Research. A second outbreak also occurred the same day at Glen Park (Eltham North).
