The Kew Historical Society's collection of these plans, as well as advertisements extracted from magazines, cover key aspects of community development and architectural history of Kew and Kew Eat as well as surrounding suburbs. While most of the plans in the collection were gifted to the Society by the former City of Kew, a number of other plans and advertisements have been donated by individuals, of which this is an example.Original 4-page, bifold subdivision plan of the Willsmere Park Estate, Kew. The 1926 land sale advertised '40 superb villa allotments' on the 'Yarra Heights'. Streets within the subdivision included: Willow Grove, Kilby Road, Elm Grove and Belford Road. Even taking into account a leave of absence between 9 February 1930 to 11 March 1931, Langley was the longest serving headmaster at Warrnambool High School, leaving on the 27 May 1940 to take up a position as Head Master at Bendigo High School. This book would appear to be a farewell gift to George Langley from D. Fletcher Jones. Lot 20 of Subdivision of Portion 13, Section 4 of the Parish of Nillumbik in the County of Evelyn was located on the southern side of Henry street in Little Eltham North, where the current Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church is situated. It became the location of the Eltham Rechabite Hall. In 1893 a new hall was built and further enlarged in 1919. At the commencement of 1922, the property was purchased from the Independent Order of Rechabites with publicly subscribed funds and a new hall built at a cost of £750 and improved road access constructed to reduce the grade, running from Dudley Street to Henry Street. This hall was eventually replaced with the new Shire Offices and Hall built on the corner of Arthur Street and Main Road, which was opened in 1941. My unit, the 6th Aus. Field Ambulance, had received quite a lot ...Ernest William Dark was born at Ballarat East. Before his enlistment on 10 April 1915, aged 19, Dark was a boot salesman. His next of kin on the enlistment papers was his mother Sarah Dark of 40 Bridge Street, Ballarat East. Ernest Dark was a very early World War One enlistment with the regimental number of 19A. He was a member of the 6th Field Ambulance. Black and white photograph of soldiers pushing an ambulance through the mud during World War One. The scene is most probably in France. This took place after the completion of the depot fan sufficiently to enable this, including the installation of the former Lydiard St crossover. Has trams 26, 27 and 40 in the photo.
