The Ballarat School of Design was established in 1870 and was affiliated with the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute.Blue hardcovered book which has a prize plate relating to the Ballarat School of Design. The book was awarded to Emily Martin in 1873 as second prize for outline drawing.
