The Ballarat School of Design was established in 1870 and was affiliated with the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute.
Physical description
Blue hardcovered book which has a prize plate relating to the Ballarat School of Design. The book was awarded to Emily Martin in 1873 as second prize for outline drawing.
Inscriptions & markings
The prize plate has the following words written in ink
[Awarded to] Miss Emily Martin [for] Outline Drawings by Pupil under 15 years of age.
