The theme for the 1996 National Arthritis Week (NAW) was "Ring the Bells for Arthritis", with the Glen Iris Handbell Ringers performing at the launch. There was a Joint Walk along Southgate, beside the Yarra River in Melbourne - one of around 24 Joint Walks held across Victoria during the 1996 NAW. In addition, there was a "Making Life Easier" expo held on the day. In this photo, AFV Physiotherapist, Valerie Sayce, and two others demonstrate some exercises in the park after the Joint Walk. All three photos are of the Ballarat City Band preforming at the 1921 South Street Competitions. Frank Wright is the Bandmaster and conductor for the B grade competition and .1- for the "A grade" test piece the conductor was Bert Baile. Bob Pattie of the Ballarat Brass Band believes the Ballarat City Band with Frank Wright as Conductor travelled to Queensland to take part in a contest up there. This is supposed to be the very first time that a Victorian Band had gone to Queensland to take part in a contest. "Frank Wright is actually marching with his band. That's him near the side drummer. He has a bow tie on and dinner suit. Note the dog: In those days you couldn't keep a dog away from the Band Contest ... everyone in town was there! This is Item 12 of 27 items in the Daisy Vickers collection . Daisy Ogier, nee Vickers (1907-1987) was a student and then a teacher at Warrnambool Technical School with her early teaching years there from 1925 to 1936 and in 1949. She became the head mistress from 1950 to 1963 and in 1968. She officially retired in 1976. Daisy Vickers was one of the best loved and dedicated teachers that the school ever had. The music for popular First World War composition "The Boys of the Dardenelles" by Marsh Little and arranged by J.Devlin Deane 1915 and copyrighted Sydney 1915.
