Mary Linton, nee Dunlop, was born in 1809 the West Indies, and married Joseph Linton in Scotland when she was eighteen. Mary and Joseph Linton migrated to Victoria in 1839, and took up a pastoral lease in the Wardy Yaloak district which they called Emu Hill. They had eleven children, ten of whom survived to adulthood. Mary died in Ballarat in 1887. She worked as a teacher until her marriage to John Linton, a son of Joseph and Mary Linton. She wrote this statement in 1939, when she was eighty-eight.Original is four typed pages, A4 size paper.
