Melbourne’s Living Museum of the West (LMW) is Australia’s first ecomuseum, founded in 1984 to document, preserve, and interpret the social, industrial, environmental, and migrant histories of Melbourne’s western suburbs. Its creation marked a turning point in recognising the West as a culturally rich region whose stories had long been overlooked.
