Functional object - Leather Scroll Holder
This leather tool roll was likely used by mechanics, engineers, or military personnel for storing essential tools in a compact, organized manner. The "MVI" marking suggests it could be linked to military vehicles, transport services, or an inspection organization. The aged leather and signs of wear suggest it could be from the early to mid-20th century, potentially World War II-era or earlier. This is a vintage leather tool roll or equipment case, designed for storing and transporting tools, instruments, or specialized equipment. It is made of thick brown leather, which has visible wear, scratches, and scuffs, indicating extensive use over time. The roll is secured with two adjustable leather straps with metal buckles, keeping the contents protected when rolled up. A metal identification plate is affixed to the exterior of the roll, inscribed with "MVI", which may signify an organization, military unit, or manufacturer. The tool roll also features a sturdy leather carrying handle, making it portable. The metal plate inscription "MVI" could have multiple interpretations, possibly related to: Military Vehicle Inspection (MVI) – suggesting military or engineering use. Melbourne Vehicle Inspection (MVI) – related to early transport or mechanical services in Victoria, Australia. Manufacturer's Mark – identifying a brand or company initials. There may be additional markings inside the roll, such as a stamp or logo, that could provide more details.commerical item, war, tool bag, military -
