Forward by Geoff Morrison, Harcourt. ...Tells of the Aboriginal Protectorate System in Colonial Victoria during the period 1838 to 1852. This system was designed as a buffer between the white squatters and the indigenous original inhabitants. Designed by Colonial administrators in England who appointed men to travel across the globe to live with the indigenous population and keep the peace, the system failed. One of these men was Edward Stone Parker, assistant Aboriginal Protector in the Loddon region of Victoria. Long before Land Rights and Reconciliation become common terms, Parker advocated land ownership between Europeans and indigenous people. Parker did his best to fulfill his role as he saw it and his work has been described as a "successful failure"."A Successful Failure" published by Graffiti Publications for Geoff Morrison. Forward by Geoff Morrison, Harcourt. Written by Edgar Morrison. Introduction by T. Maxwell O'Connor. Published in 2002. Hard cover book which is colored dark green. MINE MANAGERS’ ASSOCIATION. Ballarat Branch. ... Mr R. B. Squire, manager of the West Berry Consols, at Allendale, submitted a paper detailing what he had done tor the betterment of ventilation in the alluvial mines of Smeaton and Mary borough districts- Members gave Mr Squire every credit for the results that he claimed to have effected; the adoption of his ideas had testified to their value to mine-owners. It was painted out, however, that for want of a thorough debate of the subject with experienced men the author had unwittingly included some general statements that required modifying in some points and extending in others, in justice to other workers among the earlier and the present day managers of mines. In 1964 the Frying Pan Inn group consisting of Bill Bridgford, Geoff Henke and L G Morrison acquired a license to construct a restaurant. It opened in time for the 1965 season, but the Frying Pan venue was damaged by fire in 1967. Renovations took until 1973 when the Frying Pan Inn reopened. It is now a popular Apres Ski location in the heart of Falls Creek Village. The Frying Pan has always been the central hub of The Bowl and at different times in the past has been the location of the Old Race Hut and also the Ski School Meeting Point. This flyer promotes three benefits of the Frying Pan Inn - its Backpackers' Accommodation, a great location and its nightlife which included live touring bands, comedy nights and Happy Hour. Accommodation included four or six person shared rooms, with breakfast being available at an additional cost. This item is significant because it documents activities and accommodation at a well-known venue at Falls Creek.A coloured flyer to promote the Frying Pan Inn featuring photographic images, basic information about facilities and accommodation tariffs for the winter of 1995.frying pan inn, falls creek accommodation -

Bill had previously worked in the family shipping firm and had been Member for South Eastern in the Victorian Parliament. He became one of the shareholders in the Village rope tow which had been a failure partly because too many people had been involved. In 1960 Bridgford approached Toni St. Elmo with an offer to buy the Nissen tow and Nissen Lodge which was accepted. With friends Geoff Henke and Ron McCallum, an engineer, he formed Alpine Developments (Holdings) Pty. Ltd. Ron had also been Lift Manager at Mt. Buller and together they acquired the Village rope tow and replaced it with a T-bar. They gained the franchise to operate all ski lifts and T-bars and later the Falls Creek Ski School. Alpine Developments (Holdings) Pty. Ltd continued to expand the lift network until 1983 when the lifts were sold to Transfield. In 1964 Bridgford, along with Geoff Henke and L G Morrison acquired a license to construct a restaurant which became known as the Frying Pan. About this time he also built the Alpenrose located next to the Wagga Ski Club Lodge in Sitzmark Street, Falls Creek. These plans illustrate the proposed redevelopment of the Alpenrose in 1988.These plans represent a business development by a significant member of the Falls Creek community.A coloured plan showing the front perspective of the Alpenrose Ski Lodge.
