The Kew Historical Society’s collection includes a wide range of leisure objects. Many of the items are European-made, generally of British origin, however there are a number that were made for the Australian market by Australian manufacturers. The pram appears to have been developed during the 18th century. Queen Victoria is known to have bought three prams (she had 10 children). [from a contemporary report:] The Shire of Eltham Historical Society's entry in the 1986 Eltham Community Festival Parade included Ben Hall's Cobb & Co. coach along with several vintage motor vehicles and the Society's new Community Banner. Members dressed in in an appropriate costume to ride in one of the vehicles or walk along with them. The children pictured are the daughters of Constantine and Efstathia (Toula) Mavrokefalos (Black). The oldest is Reggina (Nina) Thalia Black at three and half years and in the pram is Marguerita (Rita) Vassiliki Black at eighteen months. They were both born in South Melbourne. The photograph was taken in 1919.Nina and Rita would have been some of the first children born in Australia to Greek parents who had settled in Melbourne.A black and white photograph of two children. In approximately 1934 Beryl Jacquier (nee Keenan) was given this pram. The pram was purchased in Melbourne and picked up by Beryl's uncle who brought it by train to Seville Station (in Killara). Beryl's mother, Una Keenan, was the post-mistress who operated the post office from her home which was next to the station.
