In 1949 the Progress Bus Company was contracted to take students, who were attending Essendon High and Essendon Technical Schools as well as non-government schools, from Sunbury to Essendon. The company later transported people employed at the Asylum and Greenvale Sanatorium to and from Essendon and Melbourne.
