Renderings of stained west end sanctuary and side altar glass windows within traceries for St Patrick's Cathedral Ballarat. The stained glass was designed by James Bentley and manufactured by Clayton and Bell Londond. Installed in 1880 these windows and the sanctuary tiles are the only example of Bentley's artwork outside the British Isles.Only known plans with specifications of Ballarat's St Patrick's Catholic Cathedral major windows. The Axis Kettle was developed through the EcoRedesign project funded by the Federal Government and based at RMIT in the 1980s and 1990s. The project involved the expertise of significant Victorian designers such as Paul Taylor, Gerry Mussett, Liam Fennessy and Michael Grima, as well as prominent sustainability experts such as academics John Gertsakis, Chris Ryan and Alan Pears. Axis changed the way kettles were used, guiding users to save resources through their behaviour. It is regarded globally by academics from prominent design institutions such as Loughborough and Delft as one of the first successful eco-design projects. Rev. Thomas Williams was grandfather of the Lindsay children. He is credited with encouraging his grandchildren in their artistic talents. Both Lionel and Normam learnt their model making skills from him. Creswick Hospital was foundation stone was laid in 1863. It operated as a hospital until 1911 when it was sold to the government as part of the School of Forestry (now University of Melbourne). The model shows it as a red brick building. In the 1870s it was painted as a white building. The Museum has b/w photos of the building taken prior to rendering. The people of Creswick collected fund for the project and obtained a government grant. The outdoor toilet was a common feature in country estates and farms before the introduction of septic tank systems to non-sewered areas. Peerless Holdings’ Braybrook site began in the 1890s as Pridham’s Rendering Works. The rendering works produced sausage casings, meat meal, tallow, and fertiliser and operated as part of a large cluster of slaughterhouse related industries in Braybrook and Footscray districts. The founder, William Pridham was a prominent civic figure (Councillor, mayor, and community leader). Peerless Foods began in the 1950s as a small Melbourne business recycling and rendering meat by‑products with their early focus on rendering, tallow production, basic edible fats and oils. This positioned Peerless as a natural successor to Pridham’s operations. In 1982, Peerless Foods acquires Pridham’s Braybrook rendering business This acquisition gave Peerless a large, established industrial site, and by integrating Pridham’s century old rendering operations allowed Peerless to scale into a national fats and oils manufacturer During the 1980s and into the 2000s, Peerless went through a diversification process and expanded from tallow into edible oils, margarine, shortenings, bakery fats and foodservice oil. In 2005, Peerless purchased Unilever’s nonretail margarine and oil business, acquiring major Australian brands EOI, Copha, Fairy and Kremelta. This dramatically increased the Braybrook site’s production and distribution role. Peerless Holdings (Peerless Foods) now produces edible oils, spreads, shortenings, and bakery fats, supplies retail, foodservice, bakery, ingredients, and export markets. Peerless is still operating out of long-established Braybrook industrial complex, and the site remains one of the largest and longest running industrial facilities in Melbourne’s western suburbs.These tallow tanks are large, heated storage vessels that are used to hold rendered animal fat (tallow) in liquid form so it can be processed, refined, or transported. As tallow is solid at room temperature, these tanks keep it pumpable, and are fitted with steam coils, hot‑water jackets and insulated walls.evans street, braybrook, pridham

Built for William and Anna-Maria Greenlaw in the early 1880s, and with interiors decorated by the Paterson Bros, Villa Alba remained in private ownership until 1949. From 1950, the house was owned by a number of institutions. By 1984, the Villa Alba Preservation Society had been formed, and three years later, the Mount Royal Hospital granted a 25-year lease to Kew Council. In 2004, the title to Villa Alba was passed by the Victorian Government to The Villa Alba Museum Incorporated. The Museum, at 44 Walmer Street, Kew, is now a cultural institution committed to the collection, study and display of 19th century interior decorative finishes, and the components of 19th and 20th century interior decoration.This is one of a number of historically and aesthetically significant photos of the interiors and exterior of Villa Alba when it was still owned by the Mount Royal Hospital, showing twentieth century accretions and deterioration of the historic fabric of the building. I conceive my work as unfinished fragments of memory and childhood rituals, and through the art making process, I build and then peel back the layers of these memories and early influences, to reveal my personal dreamscape. Through the fusion of colour, texture, mark making and rubbing back, my intuitive rendering of the media creates layers that like memories, can be stacked up, hidden, peeled away, rubbed out, etched back in, and the process of layering and building up of a tactile textured surface, reflects memory itself; with its elusiveness and hard to grasp impressions that are more like ingrained watermarks. As I work, layering the surface then taking it back; rebuilding, adding marks and burnishing back, I feel into the textures, and through this tactile rendering I often discover something unintended and the end result is not quite how I perceived it in the planning. Perhaps something of a happy accident, which again reflects the arbitrariness of memory. I see my artworks less as paintings, but assemblages, with the layering technique creating a sculptural effect that reflects my great interest in the landscape and its beautiful and varied colours, shapes and textures. Part of my process is to take long drives into the country where I grew up, photographing along the way, to create a visual documentary that then informs my practice. The wide paddocks of the Victorian wheatbelt, beneath the endless blue of the horizon evokes very early memories so that a singular Bullock, a fencepost, a hay roll or corrugated iron wall, is so uniquely resonant to me, I am compelled to create this in my work. My connection to the land, to farming practices; the poplars, oaks and elm trees of my childhood holidays, is a mindscape that I return to again and again as I try to recreate that early sense of wonder, love and familiarity, grief and joy, that forms my unique vision. By July 1960 for the Beech Forest railway outwards traffic was down to 12,730 tonnes per year, and from Ferguson under 1,000 tonnes per year. One wagon was all that was needed in July to reach Beech Forest The line kilometre proportion of $26,320 was sufficient in itself to justify the withdrawal of the rail service, without the fact that reconditioning the two Garratt locomotives and rendering serviceable the ancient wagons would make the costs prohibitive.
