2017 was a busy year for building and redevelopment at Galen Catholic College. This sequence of photos shows the progressive construction of the Galen Resource Centre, which housed the new Galen Library and the IT Assistance Hub. The building used by Nelson Undertakers in Linton from the 1860s was renovated into a Californian bungalow in the 1920s. After being restored again in 1988/89, this building became the Resource Centre of the Linton & District Historical Society. The growing need for assistive equipment and the increased demands upon the Association for the Blind, bigger premises were needed to house these services. In 1987 the Victorian Premier ceremonially layed the foundation stone for the new building that would become the Vision Resource Centre designed to meet this need. The building a Vision Resource Centre at Kooyong was made possible through donations made by a large number of people. To honour this commitment, a board was constructed listing those individuals and businesses who had contributed. In 2013, Gary Partington generously donated farm implements to Greensborough Historical Society. These implements had been used at the family property "Willis Vale" up to the 1960s. From June 2013 until December 2016 these implements were sited in the front garden at the GHS Resource Centre. Unfortunately, the plough, shoe last and kitchen kettle were stolen in December 2016. This photo of the Resource Centre shows a woman reaching for some books on a set of shelves. A sepia version of the photo appears on page 12 of the 2004 Annual Report. It accompanies a report on the Resource Centre. The photo is captioned, "During 2004, many of Arthritis Victoria's information sheets were added to the site as PDFs (Portable Document Format), allowing organisations such as Community Health Centres, health professionals and the general public, immediate access to the most current version of our information sheets." A black and white version of this photo also appears on page 9 of the Vol 18 Issue 1, Autumn 2005 edition of the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria's quarterly magazine, Update.
