Colour slide of a red wagon giving children rides at Government House in 1960. Melbourne Legacy held an annual Christmas Party for Junior Legatees and Widows at Government House for many years. Junior Legatees were given gifts. Was with many other slides taken in the 1950s and 1960s. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. These tokens were used at Falls Creek throughout the 1970s to ride on the chair lifts. The tokens were donated by Veikko Tanner. He owned and operated Karelia Lodge at Falls Creek during the 1970s. At that time Veikko was also area manager for the ski resort. He also worked as a "powder monkey" during the blasting of the ski runs.These tokens are significant because they represent a stage in the progression of chair lifts and technical developments at Falls Creek.2 tokens for use on the Ski Lifts at Falls Creek. In 1912 there was a Military Relay Despatch Ride through South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. The purpose of the ride was to deliver a despatch in the quickest possible time by road through the three states mentioned. The ride was carried out under the auspices of the Dunlop Rubber Company and involved cyclists, motor cyclists and motorists.This is an original program of the event that was carried out in 1912. Squadron Leader Alan Reed from the Royal Australian Air Force 052363 served in Vietnam from 26 May 1968 until 20 November 1968. He spent most of his tour detached to the 12th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, US Air Force. He was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in June 1989 for his service to the RAAF as Air Officer Commanding, Support Command. For his service with the USAF, Alan Reed was awarded the United States Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster. His final rank with the Air Force was Air Vice Marshal and his last posting was with Headquarters, Australian Force Vietnam (RAAF Element) ' Jolly Greens ' card / tickets to ride used in rescue operations for downed American airmen through out the Vietnam War.
