The theme for the 1996 National Arthritis Week (NAW) was "Ring the Bells for Arthritis", with the Glen Iris Handbell Ringers performing at the launch. There was a Joint Walk along Southgate, beside the Yarra River in Melbourne - one of around 24 Joint Walks held across Victoria during the 1996 NAW.
