The early forties saw rapid growth of Bogong Village, with single and married men’s quarters, workshops, mess huts and administrative offices. The facilities necessary for communal living were quickly in place- a post office, police station, co-op store, medical centre, community hall/theatre, tennis courts and school. Bogong Primary School opened in 1941 to provide an education for the families of employees of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. The school had up to date equipment and received glowing reports from school inspectors. It closed circa 1970.The Bogong State School was opened for the children of S.E.C.V. workers who lived in Bogong in a remote part of north east Victoria. Ballarat Junior Technical School moved to the new building in 1921. The grounds were cleared, terraced and planted out. Another area below the terraces was known aas White Flat. Some of the students from Bulla Primary School were taken to the local recreation ground to meet the former councillor. Pauline De Luca who was there to 'turn the first sod at the site'. The work was done by the former Bulla Shire Council on the Bulla Community Centre. The School of Mines in Ballarat decided to offer classes to teachers in State School. These areas were listed and the instructor named. Railway tickets were available from the school. It was hoped the this would enable these teachers to be awarded a "Science Certificate" through the Education Department if they succeeded. Subjects were: Chemistry with Prof Mica Smith; Botany/Geology with Alex Purdie; Physics with Mr D Walker; Electricity and Magnetism with Mr J Dawson; Drawing with Mr H Hall.
