Headquarters in London before returning to Australia on the 'Ceramic', arriving in Portsea in 1920. His full war record is available from the National Archives of Australia (B2455, MCLEAN JBM). This is an example of mementos held by an ex soldier. Begins when he sailed from Melbourne on Nov 16th 1940 to July 10th 1942, he was KIA at El Alamein on 12.7.1942. (These are the only two left in digital form, others that were done on a Museum Computer or transferred to were lost on the Museum computers) 11. Museum Musters. There were a total of 84 "Musters" produced from 2003 to beginning 2020 just before Covid. Vol's No 39, 45 - 76 are the only remaining in digital format. The rest were lost on Computer. (Vol's 1 - 84 are in Hard Copy) 12. Born Bendigo, enlisted Bendigo WW1. A listing of approx 6,000 names. This information was supplied by Denis Connor, Paul Dalgleish and Staff of the National Archives Canberra to the Museum. (A printed copy is in the Museum Library) 13. Diary. Jack Grinton No 1043 C Coy 38th BN WW1. Transcribed from his note book. Begins on 1.3.1916 on enlistment to 16.11.1916 prior to movement to France. Also photographs, research notes, documents, list of items donated to the Museum, time lines. (Diary, a hard copy is in the Museum Library) (The above items were compiled by Peter Ball in his capacity as either Curator, Chairman Museum Sub Committee, Sub Committee member, Cataloguing Co Ordinator from 1998 to current. The launch of the Soldiers Memorial Institute Digital Honour roll in 2017. The filming took place in the Vietnam Veterans shed at the Bendigo District RSL Havilah Road. The work relates to the 2,972 names on the Honour Roll of the building and the 499 identified who did not come back. The research and putting together was done by Bendigo RSL Historian Murray Poustie, interviews on the video are with Murray and Museum Volunteer Peter.
