The building suppliers and the Sunbury CFA were sited at the northern end of Evans Street and in the past were away from the main shopping centre. The building was the former Sunbury Fire Station. It was in Evans Street on the site where the shopping square has been built. Mount Holden can be seen in the background. A newer building was built for the CFA on the opposite side of Evans Street and closer to Macedon Street. This hat was worn by members of the Country Fire Authority on ceremonial occasions.A peaked black woollen gaberdine fireman's hat with a black petersham band edged with silver binding. There is a silver badge with the letters CFA- Lieutenant in the middle of the band. On each side there are two silver buttons with 'cfa' stamped on them. Attached to these two buttons is a black plastic band. There is green plastic under the peak. The bowl of the hat is lined with red woven cotton and manufacturing details are stamped in gold. Sunbury Bush Fire Brigade was established in Evans Street in a small wooden building near the Post Office in 1910 and adjacent to the former recreation reserve. It was later moved to the opposite side of the street, near the former Collins Bookshop. In latter years two depots were built out of the immediate shopping area in Jackson Street, opposite the Ball Court and at the intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Gap Road. The Dodge water truck was used in the past by the Sunbury Country Fire Authority members. The old Sunbury CFA station was situated in Evans Street where part of the Sunbury Shopping Square has been built. It was opened on that site in 1914. In 1969 a newer fire station was built in Evans Street on the opposite side of the road and closer to Macedon Street. From 1969 until 1978 the old fire station became a scout hall. In the early 2000s two new fire stations were built away from the main shopping area. One was built in Jackson Street, opposite the Ball Court Hotel and the other one was built on the corner of Gap Road and Elizabeth Drive. By locating them out of the immediate shopping centre which had become quite busy, it meant that access in and out of the new stations was quicker. The wheat silo was erected on railway land on the west side of the railway line at Sunbury from approx 1970s - 1980s. It served as a grain storage provision for the local cereal farmers. The shopping complex is in Evans Street, Sunbury and it was built on the land that was a former sports ground and also housed the first CFA building in Sunbury and the scout hall. The shopping complex opened own the site in late 1989.This was the first large shopping complex to be built in Sunbury.
