This mine was the richest of the once famous Devonshire group of mines situated in the Devonshire Gully, Eaglehawk. Mr. E. T. Brown arrived in Eaglehawk in 1853. In 1871 he established himself as a mining surveyor, in 1873 he was appointed as a teacher at The School of Mines, Bendigo where he taught Surveying, Mathematics and Mine Management. He died in June 1891.
