This mine was the richest of the once famous Devonshire group of mines situated in the Devonshire Gully, Eaglehawk.
Mr. E. T. Brown arrived in Eaglehawk in 1853. In 1871 he established himself as a mining surveyor, in 1873 he was appointed as a teacher at The School of Mines, Bendigo where he taught Surveying, Mathematics and Mine Management. Physical description
Five Draftsman's drawings on cream colored waxed paper of the United Devonshire Mine showing horizontal projections at five levels; 375 feet (114mtr), 435 feet (132mtr), 505 feet (154mtr), 606 feet (185mtr), 666 feet (203mtr) The plans of each level are similar with directions of drives in compass bearings and distances in feet. There are small squares labeled pass which are shafts for hauling ore and travel pass which are shafts for moving miners.
