Barbara Munro, who settled in Research, was a leading bark artist, calling herself a "multi-media collage artist". The artist, Clifton Pugh, grew up in Briar Hill. He served in WWII and settled at Cottles Bridge, building his own house and forming Dunmoochin artist colony. He married three times and had two sons.
