... Invasion (UFO Possums)...Aboriginals as aliens, sci-fi scaled animals - featherless birds, super sized grubs, giant lizards, possums on ufo's, laser shooting fembots, and clouds of rainbow lorikeets - arrive into urban London, the 'mother' country, and wreak havoc. ...Australian First Nations Art Photography Colonialisation Sci-fi Invasion (UFO Possums) Photograph Michael Cook ...Invasion places an imaginative eye in Australian colonial history and turns around the dominant view, taking alien creatures into iconic London-based cityscapes, with white urban residents their victims. Cook's images express the shock that enveloped the Australian continent when European people appeared on Aboriginal shores. Aboriginals as aliens, sci-fi scaled animals - featherless birds, super sized grubs, giant lizards, possums on ufo's, laser shooting fembots, and clouds of rainbow lorikeets - arrive into urban London, the 'mother' country, and wreak havoc. Within the broad narrative are mini narratives that speak to the past, historical references that tease out and reverse the racist practices imposed on Aboriginals. The drama of such an event heightened with the use of vintage-inspired B-grade horror movie aesthetic - an ironic 'spoofy' edge.australian first nations art, photography, colonialisation, sci-fi -

Theories about their origins include escaped zoo or circus animals, mascots released by American servicemen after WWII, or even the survival of the supposedly extinct Thylacoleo (Marsupial Lion). The Goldfields are reputed to be home to many ghosts, with frequent reports from locations such as Camp Hill Primary School, Castlemaine's Theatre Royal, and especially the historic Fortuna Villa.Accounts from both military personnel and civilians describe unexplained voices, apparitions, and other paranormal events within these historic buildings. Specific stories include encounters with apparitions, mysterious voices, and doors opening on their own, often witnessed by credible sources like army sergeants and captains. The document also references other unexplained phenomena in the region, such as UFO sightings and missing people, contributing to the area's reputation for mystery and intrigue.Fortuna Article - "Steeped in Mystery" Dec 01 2007 by Sarah Harris This item contains the following: 11217.33a Colour Photo of Fortuna, once home to the Lansell family, Fortuna Villa is now occupied by the Department of Imagery and Geospatial Organistion mapping unit, and apparently, some apparitions 11217.33b Colour Photo of Russel Henthorn with his camera and gear he used for a UFO photo in 1983 11217.33c Part of Page 4 - Article "Steeped in Mystery" non-fictionbendigo, fortuna, george lansell, russell henthorn -

At this camp the students were shown basic rock climbing skills and explored the rock for its interesting geological formations. Hanging Rock, also known as Mount Diogenes, is the traditional land of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Woi Wurrung and Taungurung people. It is a mamelon formed when magma poured from a vent and congealed. There are interesting rock functions at the site such as the Colonnade, the Eagle and the UFO. The highest point on the rock is 718metres above sea level and 105 meters above the land at its base.Hanging Rock is an important geological and volcanic structure in the Macedon Ranges area and in central Victoria. In 1994, the City of Moorabbin was integrated into the Cities of Bayside, Glen Eira, Kingston and Monash. This issue of the Moorabbin Mirror is dedicated to all the young, and not so young, men and women from the former City of Moorabbin who served ‘King and Country’ during the Great War. Especially those who never came home including a photo of WW1 Mordialloc Memorial and the 2016 Local Commemorative Services. Valma Sharp CMHS President 'officially opened' the new WC and thanked GECC for this amenity. Members and Guests then shared light refreshments before welcoming visitors to the BCM Extra Open Day. Unfortunately Lorna Thatcher was unable to attend due to a sudden illness and Committee and members sent Get Well wishes via Frank.
