Invasion places an imaginative eye in Australian colonial history and turns around the dominant view, taking alien creatures into iconic London-based cityscapes, with white urban residents their victims. Cook's images express the shock that enveloped the Australian continent when European people appeared on Aboriginal shores. Aboriginals as aliens, sci-fi scaled animals - featherless birds, super sized grubs, giant lizards, possums on ufo's, laser shooting fembots, and clouds of rainbow lorikeets - arrive into urban London, the 'mother' country, and wreak havoc. Within the broad narrative are mini narratives that speak to the past, historical references that tease out and reverse the racist practices imposed on Aboriginals. The Myths and Monsters conference was something of a landmark in Australian mystery animal research. It was the first cryptozoological conference held in Australia, and the first time Australia's leading researchers had been able to present their findings and meet with others working in the same field. 82 page proceedings of the Myths and Monsters Conference printed onto white paper. In 1995, the upper school students from Bulla Primary School attended a camp at Hanging Rock Reserve which is part of the Macedon Ranges. At this camp the students were shown basic rock climbing skills and explored the rock for its interesting geological formations. Hanging Rock, also known as Mount Diogenes, is the traditional land of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Woi Wurrung and Taungurung people. It is a mamelon formed when magma poured from a vent and congealed. There are interesting rock functions at the site such as the Colonnade, the Eagle and the UFO. The highest point on the rock is 718metres above sea level and 105 meters above the land at its base.Hanging Rock is an important geological and volcanic structure in the Macedon Ranges area and in central Victoria. This is Vol. 6 of the Moorabbin Mirror produced by CMHS members Fran & Holger Bader , Valma Sharp April 2016 The Moorabbin Mirror reflects the history and heritage of the former City of Moorabbin — derived from Mooroobin, ‘a resting place’ in the Bunurrung spoken language. In 1994, the City of Moorabbin was integrated into the Cities of Bayside, Glen Eira, Kingston and Monash. This issue of the Moorabbin Mirror is dedicated to all the young, and not so young, men and women from the former City of Moorabbin who served ‘King and Country’ during the Great War. Especially those who never came home including a photo of WW1 Mordialloc Memorial and the 2016 Local Commemorative Services. Valma Sharp CMHS President 'officially opened' the new WC and thanked GECC for this amenity. Members and Guests then shared light refreshments before welcoming visitors to the BCM Extra Open Day. Unfortunately Lorna Thatcher was unable to attend due to a sudden illness and Committee and members sent Get Well wishes via Frank. The Diary informs members of the Extra Open Days, upcoming publicity events , Meetings and Community Group visits to BCM, Local interest items include Lees Nursery, Market Gardening Heritage, Westall UFO, Joyce Park Playground Solar System., Moorabbin Ten Pin Bowl and the School Amateur Radio Special Event. The Committee is very grateful for the help provided by David Hardham GEHS to set up our new CMHS website. An informative article re the 2012 GESAC that replaced the 1964 Olympic Pool.
