George Zachary Parnis migrated to Melbourne from Malta in 1964, arriving with his brother Manny. George was 19 years old at the time. The family later became well-established in Melbourne’s western suburbs. George Zachary Parnis became a councillor of the former City of Sunshine (Victoria), active in local government before the council’s amalgamation in 1995. The Sunshine & District Historical Society in collaboration with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relation and Victoria University produced this collection of VHS Video tapes in 2006. The purpose of the project was to explore and document the history and development of the district of Sunshine through the eyes of those who participated in its evolution. John McLeod Pavilion located on John Mcleod Reserve was the former club rooms of the Deer Park Football and Cricket Clubs. For many years these rooms were used by the clubs as change rooms for training, competition, and social functions.
