The small church is St. Paul's Church of England built and opened in December 1850 in the former old Broadmeadows township, now part of Westmeadows. The original roof was built from shingles but was replaced with slate at a later date. The former Old Broadmeadows township in the photograph was taken in 1949. The hotel is the two storey building in the middle distance and the former general store is partly hidden by trees on the RHS. The image is looking to the north in Fawkner Street, across the Moonee Ponds Creek. The township is now part of Westmeadows.Old Broadmeadows Township was an important stopping-off point for travellers on their way to Sydney on the Old Sydney Road, (now Mickleham Road) up until 1869 when Sydney Road was finally opened. The single arched stone bridge spans the Moonee Ponds Creek in the former Old Broadmeadows Township, now Westmeadows. The historic bridge is in Fawkner Street, and has a heritage classification. The small town in the photograph is the former Broadmeadows Township (now part of Westmeadows). It was situated on the Old Sydney Road (Mickleham Road) and 2 miles east of the Broadmeadows Station. The stone bridge in the foreground spans the Moonee Ponds Creek and Fawkner Street is the road, which leads southwards to Gladstone Park and Tullamarine. The hat belonged to Edna Vlassopoulos who with her husband Andrew, had a poultry farm and market garden in the old Westmeadows township and later at Bulla. The hat was purchased to wear at a family wedding.A pink straw hat with a pink silk folded band wrapped above a narrow brim. There is a full-blown pink silk rose which is a trim on the RHS of the crown.
