Graham Wise was born on 13 October 1942. He attended Ballarat Junior Technical School and became the 1959 Ballarat Junior Technical School Open Athletics Champion. He was often listed as best afield for the Ballarat Junior Technical School Football Team. From 1963-1966 he played for Melbourne within the Victorian Football League - VFL, (now the Australian Football League). During his time with Melbourne he played 40 games, ruck position and wore guernsey number 23. He was part of the Premiership team in 1964. Military officer Henry Christopher Wise was killed during the Eureka Stockade. Little known as this print was discovered in an old cabinet in the vestry of the Chapel of St Peter. Possibly a donation meant to be framed or possibly an item used at Port Melbourne Mission which at times ran Sunday school services at the turn of the 19th and 20th C.Allen a child prodigy was a significant popular religious artist. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. This trophy first appeared at the 150th anniversary presentation night in July 2025. It is awarded for the Dragon Long race and included retrospective winners of the trophy. The trophy is aptly named after Paul Wise, a frequent Dragon Sailor and the one who approved the rescue of the owl from the hardstand bin. The trophy was then given a base with plaques and is a testament to RBYC’s cleaner sailing commitments. The winner this season was Lyla 194, skippered by Maia Hester and crewed by Ruby Wise (Paul’s granddaughter) and James Harland. It was Ruby’s inaugural Dragon Race.
