Bennett bucher's shop Nicol's bakery Wise's drapery J ...The photograph can be dated to after 1911, as the Surface Hill hotel (between Morgan and Ching stores) appears to have already been demolished (this happened in 1911).Black and white copy of original photograph, which shows east and west sides of Sussex Street, from Morgan's store to Gillespie Street. On the left of the photo (east side of street), there is a glimpse of Patrick O'Sullivan's saddlery shop, then G. G. Bennett's butcher's shop, Nicol's bakery, Wise's drapery, and further along the street the verandah of Preston's store can be seen. On the west side, there is a glimpse of J. H. Morgan's grocery store, Ching's produce store, and Annie Brown's newsagency (Annie Brown nee Annie Nicholls). Two horse-drawn vehicles are in the street. The other man (wearing jacket and vest) is Thomas Mardling Wise, and the boys in the photograph are thought to be two of his sons.Black and white copy of original photograph which shows the drapery store in Sussex Street, Linton which was owned by Thomas Mardling Wise. A section of the Linton bakery can be seen on the left of the photograph. Two men and two boys are standing in front of the drapery store. They are all wearing hats of different types.
