Silver plated teaspoons have been used as a commemorative item since the late 1890s. Being both affordable and small (and thus easy to carry home), they were gladly purchased by travelers as proof of their time away from home. This fad extended into the corporate world as a way of commemorating significant events or anniversaries, as well as being a promotional tool. This boxed spoon was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of talking books for the RVIB. Alan Currie, MLC, and a merino stud containing descendents of the historic King George III flock.
