The blue forage cap (frequently referred to as a side cap, wedge cap, or garrison cap) during World War II was a practical, foldable soft cap widely adopted by air forces and naval units, most notably by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Commonwealth aircrews. In bomber and fighter squadrons, a well-worn, battered forage cap became an informal badge of honor, distinguishing seasoned veterans from new arrivals ("sprogs").A navy blue woolen WW11 Officer's Forage Cap with shaped folded sides. The WW2 RAF Officer's greatcoat is a heavy, double-breasted winter overcoat worn by Royal Air Force officers from the pre-war period through World War II until its replacement in the immediate post-war years. Made in 1944, they were primarily for static duties, outdoor watches, parades, and transit rather than active flying missions (where aircrew wore specialized sheepskin or leather flight jackets like the Irvin Jacket). During World War II, woollen RAF greatcoats and military uniforms were often privately purchased by officers and aircrew from high-end civilian and military-contract outfitters like Austin Reed of Regent Street, rather than being exclusively mass-produced by a single factory under that brand name. This greatcoat was worn by Ralph Proctor in WW2. A calf length navy blue woollen RAF WW2 officer's double breasted greatcoat with a back vent opening. It has eight navy plastic buttons, broad lapels, two deep flap pockets lined with cream fabric. Each sleeve has three navy buttons at the cuff. It has a woollen navy belt with a metal sliding adjustable buckle. The coat is fully lined with navy satin. There is an internal pocket with a triangular cover and two buttons. It is missing shoulder lapels with rank.'No.2 R.C. Proctor 97 044671.2.2.44'ww11 uniform, ww11-history, ww11 raaf, ww11 greatcoat

These courses were generally for a three-year period, and nurses were paid employees of the parent hospital. In Melbourne after WW11 because individual hospitals couldn't get enough nursing students a school of nursing was established - The Royal Melbourne and Associated Hospitals School of Nursing.A white cotton cap which draws up at the back with string to form a frill.
