Contact lenses, (estimated); mid 1930's

Historical information

These contact lenses represent some of the earliest lenses used in Australia. They were made in Germany and distributed in Australia. Very few optometrists were involved with contact lenses in the 1930's.

Significance

These lenses are rare as few glass contact lenses have survived intact from the 1930's.

Physical description

Pair of glass scleral contact lenses in D-shaped plastic hinged case. Case for right lens includes rubber suction lens handler.

Right case:25/8 R -2, Left case:5/8 L -3. Case cover impressed:Carl Zeiss Jena/ Made in Germany
