The map has been used by water supply officers to map the supply of water to properties in the township area of Yarra Glen.

The item is significant because it records changes to the supply of water to Yarra Glen over a period of approximately 100 years. It also records property owners and subdivisions.

Flat map which folds into 12 pages with a dark red cloth cover. One page in top left corner is missing. Scale of the map is 300 feet to an inch. Cream coloured packing tape has been placed along the back of the folds and is now peeling off.

Round stamp in top right corner "Shire of Eltham". Pencil note on top left existing page "Note - includes record of 8 LP's subdivisions. HC". Information has been added to the map over an extended period of time in red ink, black pencil, blue pencil and blue biro.

A.H.Scott Yarra Glen Store on the corner of Bell and King Streets in the late 1890s. Parked in front is a spring buggy with driver and two horses. On the buggy is a bag of produce. Five males are standing on the veranda one of whom is a policeman and two are store assistants. Buckets and tinware is hung from a line across the veranda. To the left hand side of the store, along King Street, can be seen two timber cottages.

Photograph taken from the junction of Bell and King Streets looking north up Bell Street early 20th century. On the eastern side of Bell Street (left hand side of photograph) is the Victoria Hall. Behind the hall is a newsagency and behind that is the bakery. The pine trees at the top of the hill are at 'Point Pleasant', home of the Herbert family. On the western side of Bell Street can be seen the Grand Hotel and the Colonial Bank. The street trees are in wooden tree guards. In the middle foreground are two men in a buggy drawn by two horses.

Black and white photograph in light brown card slip case. The slip case has an image on the front cover of a head and shoulder bust. The photograph was taken about 1900 from the tower of the Grand Hotel looking down upon the Victoria Hall and the railway crossing. In the lower left corner is W.J.Dawborn's General Store. In front of the store is a horse and spring dray and another horse hitched to a veranda post. Next to the store is the Victoria Hall and beyond that a water trough. The railway crossing is in the centre of the picture with two railway cattle trucks next to the cattle yards. Beyond the railway on the left hand side is the property later known as 'River View'. Beyond the river lined with trees are the Yering flats across which can be seen the long trestle railway bridge. In the foreground of the picture is Bell Street lined with trees in wooden tree guards.

Built in 1861 on the south side of Symonds Street opposite Irvine Crescent this building was the home of John Hicks Petty. He operated the first Post Office in Yarra Flats from here. Mr Petty, holding a baby, is standing alongside his wife Maria Louisa Petty. The cottage is built of sawn timber, placed vertically, and a shingle roof. There is an established garden surrounding the house with creeper climbing the walls.

The 'Back to Yarra Glen' event was held on the Australia day weekend, 1959.

Badge is circular with filigree work around the outer rim. The inner circle has a picture of the Yarra Glen bridge over the light blue river with the dark blue mountains in the background and green river bank in the foreground. There are green trees at each end of the gold bridge. The sky is white. On the green grass foreground is the date 1959. Above the mountains are the words 'Back to Yarra Glen'. The diameter is 2.5 centimetres. It is made of pressed metal, maybe brass, with gold colouring around the outer edge and back.

On the front of the badge "Back to Yarra Glen" is across the top and "1959" on the bottom. "Stokes Melb" is on the back

The Junction Hotel was built before 1875. It was located on the corner of the Yarra Glen-Eltham and Steels Creek Roads opposite the cemetery. The building was burnt down in August 1935. Samuel Smith was the licensee from 1895 until 1905
