This photo was taken somewhere in Europe during World War I. It shows some of the equipment the soldiers had to carry and wear into battle. You will also notice that not all soldiers were not issued with metal helmet to protect them. The conditions that they had to survive under can be seen.

Physical description

Photograph,glass plate. It depicts two miliary scenes from World World I. Skillfully amagulmated on the one negative. In the top half there are soldiers on horseback with tents in the background, lower half a large group of soldiers, two trucks and a car in a trench.

Inscriptions & markings

Printed on the top of the image. "Australians off to the trenches". On the edge "15" is written.
