This portrait is one of several photographs which Langi Morgala Museum has of James Tuson, who was an Ararat pioneer, city councillor and one-time mayor.
Because of its provenance and its discernible date-range, and because of the good provenance for the maker, and the 'With Compliments' note on the back, this photo is of undisputed local significance. The donor or their relatives may well have been given this photo by Tuson or another.
Oval-shaped black-and-white or sepia photograph mounted on a rectangular cardboard backing with the maker's marks on it.
