Historical information
The Merbein shops were originally owned by Spiros Raftopoulos (Levendi) who migrated from Kolieri, Ithaca, Greece. The family conducted a business in Merbein during the 1930s before relocating to Melbourne.
Significance
Some Greeks who migrated to Australia during the first half of the twentieth century settled in larger country towns throughout regional Victoria.
Physical description
