This book is the catalogue from an exhibition titled "Wool in the Australian Imagination", an evaluation of the social history and popular culture associated with wool. This exhibition was instigated by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales in 1994. The cataIogue contains essays regarding wool in art, wool in music, science and wool, wool and fashion, mutton and pastoralism. The National Wool Museum lent several collection items to this exhibition (which are mentioned in the checklist of the catalogue) and Rachel Faggeter, the first Director of the Wool Museum, curated the exhibition.
