It is thought that this photograph was taken in Newcastle during a visit Melbourne Ithacans in the 1940s. Many Melbourne Ithacans had relatives who had settled in Newcastle.

Significance

There was an established community of Ithacans in Newcastle dating back to the early 1900s.

Physical description

A black and white photograph of three ladies sitting on the back mudguard of a dark sedan which is parked outside a country general store. A young girl and boy are walking by the store and there are three men and another car in the distance.
