The Adult deaf and Dumb Society had long seen the need for a hostel to provide accommodation for Deaf Adults and the appeal launched in 1951 was brought to furuition in 1959 with the Horace Bedggood House (Men’s Hostel) opened at Jolimont Square.

These photographs are significant as they show a major undertaking of the Adult Deaf and Dumb Society of Victoria - Horrace Bedggood House a Hostel for Deaf Adults.
