Historical information

The newspaper article features a photograph of a very young Nina Black with her mother, Toula Mavrokefalos, taken in 1916 at Bull's Gardens Newcastle during a family trip from Melbourne. The article and photographed was published in Neos Kosmos on 16 November 1998.

Significance

Bull's Garden was located on what is now part of the current suburb of Whitebridge. It was once a major tourist spot of the Newcastle area, drawing thousands of people to visit and picnic.
