Used for keeping record of sheep shorn by individual shearers. The final number of sheep shorn by each shearer are used to calculate payment. Provides wool grower with statistical information about how many sheep on property and where they are. Depends how many people on site who keeps the shearers tallies eg the contractor, property owner, station hand. Used also to keep shearers honest about their totals and therefore their pay.
