Historical information

Tom Uren was an ALP Member of Parliament from 1958 to 1990. For some of this time he served as Deputy Leader of the Opposition and was a cabinet minister. He was supportive of the heritage and conservation movement, particularly in Sydney. He also lived through the great depression and was a prisoner of war in WWII. The book, Straight Left, is Uren's memoir.
