Australian Commonwealth Military Forces gong from Egypt in 1940.
Significance
This gong shows a link between the Australian military and Egypt in 1940. It is also an example of military craft skills and the creation of usable art by soldiers.
Physical description
Round brass gong engraved with Australian Rising Sun Badge and Egyptian motifs. Supported by a red wooden base. Gong attached to frame by green plastic-covered rope.
