Hand-held clinometers are used for a variety of surveying and measurement tasks. In land surveying and mapping, a clinometer can provide a rapid measurement of the slope of a geographic feature. Major artillery guns may have an associated clinometer used to facilitate aiming of shells over long distances. Case only with no known provenance.
Physical description
Tan leather Clinometer compass case - nil contents. Has a leather strap with a black buckle at the top. A leather strap with a metal clip at the bottom. Thick brown felt is stitched into the inside.
