The photograph of a group of Ithacan women was taken at an Ithacan Philanthropic Society annual picnic. The women would work hard in the lead up to the picnic to prepare traditional Greek fare to enjoy on the day. At the picnic women catch up with relatives and friends.

Significance

Ithacan women brought with them their Ithacan traditions and culinary skills and were very much the custodians of the Ithacan cultural heritage.
