Races were popular events at the Ithacan Philanthropic Society's annual picnic. The men's foot race was the highlight of the day. Pictured centre front of runners is the president, Andreas Papadopoulos.
Since the first picnic in 1918, the event has been held at sporting grounds situated around Melbourne's urban fringe and remain a popular event on the club's social calendar.

Physical description
