Historical information

Bookmaker's bag used as a prop during Legacy golfing and social events.
Bags such as this one were used by bookmakers to collect and securely hold punters' bet at racing events.

Significance

Legatees had many social events together and used items like this.

Physical description

White painted leather bag with metal fastening mechanism. A short painted leather handle is joined to the bag by metal fastening clips. A long painted leather strap is joined to the bag by metal fastening clips.

Inscriptions & markings

'R.J. Connell / Victorian Club' painted in black and 'U. Pickem / K.E.R.C.' Handwritten in black on other side.
