Historical information
The group gathered for the photograph were enjoying themselves at an annual Ithacan Picnic during the 1930s. The picnic was most likely held at Maddingley Park, Bacchus Marsh as it was the regular site for the picnic up until 1980 following which a move was made to the Ferny Creek Reserve, now the regular venue. Notable from early picnic photos is the effort that was made to dress for the picnic; men in suits and women in smart outfits.
