Artwork - Pastel, Entrance to the Kew Cemetery / attrib. to Caroline Ethel Bell, circa 1892

From the Collection of Kew Historical Society Inc Level 1, Kew Court House 188 High Street Kew Victoria

Framed pastel drawing, donated to the Kew Historical Society in 1965 of the entrance to Boroondara General (Kew) Cemetery, believed to be drawn by the sister of the artist George Bell. The drawing shows one of the entrances to the Cemetery before the construction of the high brick wall in 1895. This would be consistent with the life of Caroline Bell (1872-1947). The artist's perspective is estimated to be near the west end of the cemetery, perhaps in Victoria Park.
